The Flight Dynamics department is responsible for calculating the trajectory of the rockets, using a RocketPy library: it is a simulator with 6 degrees of freedom (3 rotational and 3 translational). From this code it is possible to derive several fundamental quantities for the design: speed, acceleration, point of fall.
It deals with analyzing and studying the atmospheric environment in which we will launch, in particular on the speed and direction of the wind defining the worst cases and the best cases.
It defines the research area, points of fall, based on the method of montecarlo and therefore on the uncertainties related to the parameters of the rocket.
It deals with the final simulation, parachute sizing, code maintenance, data implementation and interfaces with the other departments of the association.
